Nightspan / The two ingredients, explained
Free-form glycine and magnesium bisglycinate.
Two separately specified ingredients in one formula.
3,000 mg
Working amount of free-form glycine
Glycine included as its own ingredient, separately from the magnesium bisglycinate.
250 mg elemental
Working amount of magnesium itself
Bisglycinate names the magnesium form. The listed amount measures elemental magnesium.
Both belong in Nightspan. The free-form glycine amount is separate from the elemental magnesium amount.
Alongside
It means the amount of magnesium itself, rather than the weight of the whole magnesium-containing compound. The two headline amounts above measure different ingredients; they are not a total-glycine calculation.
Read the NIH explanation of magnesium labeling ↗Working formula · final approval pending. This graphic explains composition, not directions for use or proven benefits of the finished combination. Symbols are ingredient identifiers, not molecular structures.
Two entries, one formula
Free-form glycine supplies the amino acid directly; magnesium bisglycinate supplies magnesium in a glycine-bound form. The 3,000 mg figure describes free-form glycine, while 250 mg elemental describes magnesium. Both are included in Dayspan Nightspan.
| Question | Free-form glycine | Magnesium bisglycinate |
|---|---|---|
| What does the entry specify? | Glycine as its own active | Magnesium supplied in a chelated form |
| What does the amount count? | 3,000 mg free-form glycine | 250 mg elemental magnesium, not total compound weight |
| Are they alternatives in Dayspan? | No. Both are in the same formula. | No. Both are in the same formula. |
Including both is a formulation choice, not evidence that the combination works better than either ingredient alone. Do not add the elemental magnesium amount to the free-form glycine amount. Total glycine from all chelates remains unverified until final supplier composition is available.

Ingredient research
These sources concern individual ingredients, not a clinical trial of Dayspan. Match the studied material, amount, population and outcome before interpreting a finding. Inclusion here is not a finished-product benefit claim.
| Ingredient and source | What was studied | Main finding | Limits and funding |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small bedtime studies of 3 g free-form glycine in people dissatisfied with their sleep, including sleep-laboratory measurements. | Small studies reported improved subjective sleep-related measures; the 2007 sleep-lab study also reported shorter sleep latency. Sleep architecture was unchanged. | The trials are small, and both were authored by researchers affiliated with Ajinomoto, an amino-acid manufacturer. The study found sleep architecture unchanged — glycine got people to deep sleep faster, it did not create more of it. We will never claim otherwise. Study findings do not establish an outcome from this finished Dayspan combination. | |
| A 2025 randomized trial of 250 mg elemental magnesium as bisglycinate in 155 adults with poor sleep, assessing insomnia severity and secondary sleep and daytime measures. | Insomnia-severity scores improved vs placebo — a small effect | The effect was small (about 1.6 points on the scale) and every secondary measure — sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, fatigue, stress, mood — showed no difference from placebo. It was academically funded, which is rarer than it should be. No claim of superior absorption. Study findings do not establish an outcome from this finished Dayspan combination. | |
| A 2025 review of 18 randomized trials involving 897 participants, examining self-rated sleep quality and objective sleep measurements. The review is not a trial of Dayspan’s combination. | Self-rated sleep quality improved across 18 trials; objective recordings did not move | Subjective only. Objective sleep recordings did not move, and the sleep-onset effect was trivially small. We claim the calm, not the architecture. 200 mg is the floor of the effective range. Study findings do not establish an outcome from this finished Dayspan combination. | |
Saffron extractLopresti et al. 2021 (Sleep Medicine), N=120 ↗ | A 28-day placebo-controlled trial of 120 adults with poor sleep, including a 28 mg standardized saffron extract taken before bed. Sleep was assessed using questionnaires and diaries. | Self-rated sleep quality and insomnia-severity scores improved; questionnaire endpoints only | Both trials were funded by the extract's manufacturer and measured sleep by questionnaire, not in a sleep lab. The named-trial citation holds only if the branded extract is what we buy. Better self-rated sleep, not deep-sleep architecture. Study findings do not establish an outcome from this finished Dayspan combination. |
| A 12-week study in 120 healthy adults using 15 mg zinc daily from zinc-rich food, with actigraphy measurements of sleep efficiency and time to fall asleep. | Sleep efficiency and time to fall asleep improved on actigraphy in healthy adults | The better trial gave the zinc inside a food, not alone, and was industry-authored; a second placebo-controlled trial used a sleep questionnaire. Zinc earns a supporting slot and modest copy, not a headline. Do not exceed 15 mg without a clinician. Study findings do not establish an outcome from this finished Dayspan combination. |
Start with the human research
Small human supplementation studies
In a small study of people reporting unsatisfactory sleep, 3 g of glycine before bed improved self-rated sleep quality and shortened the time to fall asleep. Sleep is a useful part of the glycine story, not the whole of it.
The study included researchers affiliated with Ajinomoto. Sleep architecture was unchanged; it did not demonstrate more deep sleep. It tested glycine, not the five-active Dayspan formula.
Yamadera et al., Sleep and Biological Rhythms (2007) ↗Your body also uses glycine in collagen, glutathione, and creatine synthesis. Explore those biological roles below. They explain the amino acid’s importance, not additional benefits demonstrated for this formula.
Established biological role
Glycine occupies every third position in the repeating sequence of fibrillar collagen. Its small size helps the strands fit together. That makes glycine part of the molecular structure of connective tissue—not just an ingredient discussed at bedtime.
This structural role does not establish that a glycine supplement rebuilds joints, firms skin, or replaces a collagen product.
Long et al., Biochemistry (1993) · collagen peptide structure ↗Established biological role
Glutathione is an antioxidant made from glycine, cysteine, and glutamate. Glycine is therefore one of the ingredients your cells use to make this part of their antioxidant defenses.
Being a precursor does not prove that this formula raises glutathione levels or produces a measurable antioxidant benefit. It is not a detox claim.
National Cancer Institute · glutathione definition ↗Established biological role
The body makes creatine using glycine, arginine, and methionine. Creatine helps tissues store and use energy. Glycine participates upstream in that process; it is not itself a stimulant.
This does not make glycine equivalent to a creatine supplement or demonstrate improved strength, exercise recovery, or all-day energy from this product.
MedlinePlus Genetics · GATM normal function ↗Ingredient choices · Dayspan Nightspan
Glycine leads this five-active formula. The ingredients we leave out help keep that identity clear.
Melatonin is not part of this glycine-led formula. Glycine’s wider story is not being combined with a melatonin product.
The unflavoured formula relies on glycine’s own sweetness, without added stevia or monk fruit.
This is not a GlyNAC formula. NAC is not included, so research on the glycine-plus-NAC combination does not describe this product.
GABA is not an added active in this five-active formula. This formula pairs glycine with magnesium, L-theanine, saffron and zinc.
These choices are specific to this formula. An omission alone does not establish greater safety or effectiveness.
STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Yes. The working formula specifies 3,000 mg free-form glycine alongside 250 mg elemental magnesium as bisglycinate. They are two entries in the same product, not alternative formulas.
No. It combines glycine, magnesium, L-theanine, saffron extract and zinc. The complete label and final material specifications remain pending.
No. Elemental magnesium describes the magnesium content, not glycine content or total chelate mass. Do not add that number to the free-form glycine amount. Total glycine contributed by all chelates has not been established from verified final material data.
Melatonin is not an ingredient in the current working formula. The five specified actives are glycine, magnesium, L-theanine, saffron extract and zinc; the complete final label will publish before sale.
No. The references concern individual ingredients or specific study formulations, not the finished Dayspan combination. Including the ingredients together does not establish an added or synergistic benefit.
Final serving count, scoop size and directions are pending. The planned 30-day replenishment interval is not a serving instruction and does not establish how long a jar will last.
Review the final label with your existing supplements and medicines. Children, pregnancy, breastfeeding, medical conditions and medication use require appropriate qualified guidance. This page does not provide an individual supplement plan.
No. These are development details, not instructions for use. The complete label, serving count, preparation directions, warnings and first-batch report must be available before sale.
No. Glycine is a building block in collagen and a participant in glutathione and creatine synthesis. Those normal roles explain why it interests us beyond sleep; they do not prove skin, metabolic, antioxidant or training outcomes from the finished Dayspan formula. Its complete label will determine directions for use.

01
The planned subscriber price is $34 less per delivery than the same quantity purchased once. A saving on replenishment, not a different formula.
02
Scheduled deliveries make replenishment part of the plan. Choose a cadence that fits the final serving directions and your actual use—not a promise that more product means better results.
03
One-time purchasing remains available as an option. Renewal charges and customer controls will be clear before subscription enrollment; this preview makes no commitment for you.
STRAIGHT ANSWERS
A subscription is a replenishment choice: scheduled deliveries rather than a new order each time. Where a subscriber price is shown, compare it with the same quantity at the one-time price. Subscribing does not change the formula or promise better results.
No. This is a prelaunch plan preview, not enrollment. Selecting a plan here does not place an order or authorize recurring payments. You will have to review and explicitly accept the recurring terms when subscription checkout opens.
Those controls, their deadlines and the cancellation process must be published and tested before subscriptions open. We are not accepting recurring payments while those details are unavailable.
Choose one container or a three-container stock-up of this formula. Collagen Essentials and Nightspan also have a two-product routine option. New bundle subscription prices and delivery intervals will be published before enrollment; three jars do not imply 90 days of supply.
Yes, one-time purchasing is shown alongside the subscription option. It has no automatic renewal. Both choices remain unavailable until the product and purchase terms are approved.
No. A 30-day renewal interval is exactly 30 days; it is not monthly calendar billing. Delivery cadence also does not establish how long a jar will last. Serving counts and directions must match the final label.
